The Urbanxchanger initiative

An initiative of the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft urbanxchanger aims to develop new practices based on the experiences of community initiatives.
To enable this process, urban practitioners from São Paulo, Mexico City, Cape Town and New Delhi were paired with partners from Berlin to collaborate with and take forward community initiatives identified as part of the Deutsche Bank Urban Age Award.

Urbanxchanger was initiated by Ute E. Weiland and curated by Marcos L. Rosa. We have invited Edwin Heathcote, architecture and design critic of the Financial Times, to reflect on it.

The Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft (AHG) is the international forum of Deutsche Bank. AHG seeks traces of the future in the present: identifying trends, exploring intellectual frontiers and conceptualising topics for analysis and debate. It promotes research and gets involved in debates on current issues. Working with partners from politics, economics, science and society, it establishes discussion forums across the globe.
