CURE implements innovative slum upgrade projects: it offers alternative approaches to more traditional city planning, and encourages city administrators to un-think and de-engineer their current policy guidelines and solutions.
Urbanxchanger aims to develop new practices based on the experiences of community initiatives. To enable this process, urban practitioners from São Paulo, Mexico City, Cape Town and New Delhi were paired with partners from Berlin to collaborate with and take forward community initiatives identified as part of the Deutsche Bank Urban Age Award.
Urbanxchanger was initiated by Ute E. Weiland and curated by Marcos L. Rosa. We have invited Edwin Heathcote, architecture and design critic of the Finantial Times, to write about it.
