Street food carts
The existence of temporary structures in Brazilian cities - popcorn stands, street markets, street vendors etc. – is an historic manifestation that illustrates the complementarity of definitive and temporary, of planned and improvised, of the rigid and the open.
The idea of using the ready-made street cart in this project was to take advantage of a pre-existing structure which many people use to sell fruit, coconut water and other food items, and that is locally manufactured by crafters in central São Paulo. This particular cart was produced by one such manufacturer and modified to transform it into something especially suited to the garden, its products and the goals set for its operation by the community initiative.
